Bacarrat – A Simple and Exciting Game
Bacarrat is a card game that is popular in Europe and Asia, but is increasingly found in US casinos. It is a very simple and exciting game and is a great way to win big money.
Baccarat is a game of chance where players bet on whether the Bank or Player hand will have the higher valued hand. The highest hand is nine, and the lowest is zero. All 10s, Jacks, Queens and Kings are counted as 0 and an Ace counts as 1.
The cards are dealt from a shoe which contains eight decks of playing cards. These cards are shuffled together and passed around the table, counter-clockwise. The dealer deals two cards to the Bank hand and two cards to the Player hand. Sometimes a third card is dealt to either or both of the hands.
Both hands are then exposed and players decide which of the two is closer to nine. If it is the Player hand, then the player must call ‘carte’ and if it is the Banker, then they must call ‘non’.
When a player calls ‘carte’ they must have a total of 4 or less and if they call ‘non’ they must have a total of 6 or 7. If a hand is tied the players are paid their winnings, and the commission owed to the casino is collected.
As well as producing spectacular display pieces for exhibition, Baccarat also produced a number of glass products. Their crystal vases, notably the one shown above, were a highly prized possession and are still sought after today. During the 19th Century, the company exhibited many of their glassware designs at international exhibitions.
